Give our troops funding, support

We are perceived almost universally as the world's bully--the modern day equivalent to the old USSR Foreign policies and hidden (oil) agendas are the current downfall of this administration. There would be no terrorists in Iraq if we had not invaded Iraq for the hope of cheap oil In the real world, calling our troops illegal, immoral, occupiers, soviets and terrorists is slamming our troops. Some have also presented the alleged conduct of a couple bad apples as the norm for our military as a whole. You guys may as well throw in baby killers. These statements amount to slander because you guys are willfully and knowingly misrepresenting the true reason that they are there with malicious intent. You guys are giving aid and comfort to an enemy during a time of war. It is immoral, unpatriotic, anti-American and amounts to an act of treason.

Off-duty Wayne County deputy snared in prostitution sting

A Wayne County deputy was among 18 people arrested in a call girl sting over the weekend. Sheriff Warren Evans tells The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press the unidentified deputy faces misdemeanor charges and his police powers are suspended. The off-duty deputy was ticketed during a sting targeting prostitutes and pimps who used an Internet site to advertise escort services. An undercover female deputy answered and set up a rendezvous when the deputy called the cell phone of one of the women being detained. The caller offered to pay for sex acts and was ticketed for solicitation. Fifteen women will be arraigned on misdemeanor charges Monday. Two men suspected of being pimps will be charged with pandering _ a four-year felony.

Chief: Officer abused power

A Corpus Christi police officer fired Friday bought a seized truck for about $10,000 less than its real value and visited one of its owners in jail to negotiate the sale, Chief Bryan Smith said in a disciplinary letter.

The officer, 22-year veteran Senior Officer Martin Jasso, was fired Friday after he was accused of abusing his authority with his involvement in vehicle sales at the city's impound lot, the letter said. A Corpus Christi Police Department captain and lieutenant also are under investigation and were put on paid administrative leave Tuesday.

Smith wouldn't comment Wednesday and has said he will make an announcement at the end of the week. He detailed allegations against Jasso in a letter sent Friday to the city's Civil Service Commission and Human Resources Department.

The Caucus Men

Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Washington. Mrs. Clinton, by contrast, has won but a single caucus: in Nevada. She also has a slight lead in New Mexico's Feb. 5 caucus, in which provisional ballots are still being counted.

Blogger Kevin Drum offers some explanations for Obama's caucus advantage:

Caucuses require organization and Obama was better organized. They require enthusiasm and he has more enthusiastic supporters. They require time, and his demographic has more free time. They're mostly in small states, and Obama targeted small states. They're dominated by activists, and activists tend to support Obama. To put it another way, caucuses require that a candidate's support be deep, while primaries require that it be broad.
